Position Description

Customer requires the services of contract language instructors with professional proficiency in foreign language speaking, reading, and listening skills (level 3+ and above on the ILR scale) to work 40 hours a week spending approximately 20 hours of teaching and 20 hours of lesson development, student assessment and testing. The contract language instructor(s) shall have demonstrated knowledge of the respective area’s history, culture, politics, and economy, as well as working knowledge of foreign language learning technology and teaching methods. They will work under the direction of experienced senior trained instructors. Once on the program, contract instructors are required to complete specific sponsor training on teach mission-focused foreign language skills and conducting foreign language testing to become certified according to sponsor standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to produce a U.S. Birth Certificate or a Naturalization Certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience providing language instruction to adults to include:
  • Teaching/Language instruction.
  • Language testing.
  • Translation from source language into English.
  • Course design.
  • Responsible for content management on social media, e.g., blackboard.
  • Editing translator’s translations/interpretations.
  • Quality control translator’s translations/interpretations.
  • Summarizing/gisting pertinent details of text or recorded material providing an easily digested format.
  • Selecting and processing relevant information being monitor or scanned.
  • Writing reports.
  • Must pass language testing with ILR 4+ in translation (Japanese>English) and 4/4/4 in speaking, listening, and reading.
